Comic Con weekend 2011 in NOLA.

Growing up i was never allowed to play video games. I had a cousin who was so addicted to Dungeons and Dragons that he would lock himself in his bedroom with his friends and we wouldn't see him for days. Ever since then, my mother didn't allow any video games in the house and due to that i was never introduced into comics. For some reason, gaming and comics go hand in hand. I never really got into comics until almost a year ago. Thanks to my ex boyfriend, Donald, i was introduced to this world of amazing art, storytelling and female empowerment. I was never a huge "novel" reader, so this was right up my alley.
The first comic that i really got into was Kabuki, by David Mack. I lived in Japan and South Korea for several months, so the artwork was intriguing as well as the story line involving the Noh Assasins and a girl who struggled with her own self identity. I had the pleasure of meeting David Mack at comic con. He was a very nice guy, very intelligent and we shared many stories of Japanese tattoing, Japanese culture and the story behind Kabuki, etc. Check him out--

I recently went through a tough period of depression throughout the 2010 holiday months. This whole experience of meeting new people, seeing new art work, the various star wars legions, starfleet academies, as well the amazing costumes that were created, really threw me into a new world. I hadn't been that happy in SUCH a long time. It reminded me of the feeling i had when i first discovered Geology. Happiness is where you found it and i found it at the 2011 NOLA comic con. Looking forward to the next one.
