A couple of weeks ago, i found out about a mardi gras krewe named the krewe of chewbacchus. I have always wanted to be a part of a mardi gras marching krewe/parade but never had the money or the time to commit to one of them. This was the perfect opportunity for me to be a part of something that im borderline obsessed with and is a new way of meeting new people and having ridiculous fun. We roll the Sunday of Bacchus before Bacchus. Our king is Peter Mayhew, of Star Wars Chewbacca fame. Yes, you read that right. I almost had a coronary after hearing it myself. The 501st legion is going to be at the beginning of the parade, then is followed by aliens, star wars costumers, etc.
So of course, this is where the costuming comes into play. I have never really designed a costume, unless you count outfits to wear to parties, holidays, etc. So this is my first stab at it. I started doing Pure Barr classes uptown and have already seen a drop in my waist line, so fitting into the costume by mardi gras time shouldn't be a problem. I have already found the helmet to the boba fett costume, so now i just need to get the body suit as well as other accessories. This should be fun. Ill keep the progress of the costume updated. So stoked about this journey.
